[BUG] The list of metadata types is updated only when a metadata type is added or removed.

Describe the bug
After the extension is initiated the command explainTypes is execute in order to update the list of metadata types. However the current implementation only updates the list if a metadata type was added or removed. Any change related to existing metadata types is not considered.
