Cannot get ardour 5.12 to use the APC40

Hi,

Ive been trying to get the APC40 to work with Ardour 5.12 but the APC40 isnt showing in the Preferencec -> Control Surfaces section. I have copied the AKAI_APC40.map script into the ~/.config/ardour5/midi_maps folder but I am getting no response from the APC40.
Am I doing something wrong here? or are there some steps that I am missing out?

Hi,
To use the APC40 map file, you have to:
-in Control Surfaces section, enable Generic Midi
-with the Generic Midi line selected, click on the button below to show the protocol parameters (here in french it's called "Afficher les paramètres de protocole")
-in this window, on the MIDI Bindings line, select the Akai APC40. Enable the options "Enable Feedback" and "Motorised", and set the Smoothing to the maximum value 127.

For the Incoming midi and Outgoing midi, I usually don't set those directly from here, as I use Catia or Claudia to manage the connections (with the alsa midi bridge activated, and Jack set with MIDI driver to "none").

I hope this is clear enough to help you. I should add those infos in the README, I'll keep this issue open until I update it.

Thank you for your speedy response. Your solution worked perfectly and I understand that it was mainly due to a lack of knowledge on my behalf. Thank you so much for making this script. Its almost the reason I picked up a secondhand APC40 recently.

I think it would be useful to add this info to the README.

Im a bit confused about this paragraph... 'For the incoming midi and outgoing midi...'. I too use catia, I never had much success with claudia as it never really recalled my sessions successfully. Maybe this is not the correct place to comment about this, but I would love to hear more about your workflow.

Just one thing, the only feature I cannot get to work is the 'Bank select' button. Everything else works perfectly.
