When on the manage groups page and reorganizing tabs I cannot move tabs to archived groups.
In addition, if I show archived groups the active groups do not stay at the top.
This often results in me just creating a new group with tabs that I want to move out of a working/active group to clean up a bit. The end result is that I have a large number of archived groups and many of them are duplicates.
Working with archived groups is not as easy as it could be, which results in not being able to efficiently active and de-activate (archive) groups.
My overall goal is to be able to work with archived groups just as easily as active groups so that I could keep the number of active groups as small as possible. In reality there is probably never a reason to have more than 5 active groups and most of the time 2 would be reasonable, but because archived groups are so inconvenient to show, move tabs to, and activate, I often have more than 10 active groups.
Describe the solution you'd like
I would like:
- to show archived groups after active groups in the move to group drop-down, both on the manage groups page and on the tab context menu. Being able to move a tab to an archived group would be a huge time saver and prevent creating duplicate groups.
By making all groups visible during a move, it would be obvious that I already have a group for a kind of tabs.
- Add a "sidebar" to the manage groups page that shows a list of all groups. This could be scrollable and/or allow multiple columns. It would:
- provide a view of all groups so I would not create duplicates
- it could be a target for drag and drop when managing group contents.
- it would also provide a way to quickly see the archived groups and activate one of them
- it might even be better if this sidebar just showed all groups with a icon showing which are currently active
- it would also be useful to be able to sort this list.
