[BUG] Auto-update apps not working

What's going wrong?

in the settings I have enabled autoupdate toggle. Every time app has an update, it just downloads it and does not install. Have to go through every app tapping install manually

How do we reproduce it?

go to settings, toggle auto update, and forget - apps update themselves.

but you had it enabled for a some time and everything was updating and installing silently, until now?

@Coaxalis I have faced this too actually, in 0.6.8 this was introduced but whenever I try with logging it always works 💀

No, I'm not a fan of auto updates. I'd rather just be notified and click update all. However I did try auto updates and it would never update the apps.

This has been an issue (#1002) for a few years and unfortunately hasn't received any attention. It's by far the biggest issue I have with Droid-ify. But it seems unrelated to this particular issue as it's been a problem for so long, whereas this one is apparently new. Though if update all has worked for you until now, that's interesting, because it basically never works right for me, requiring several attempts, closing and relaunching the app in-between, to get all apps to update, and even then often requiring manual update of the last 1-2 apps.

@Coaxalis can you check if you have allowed install permissions? There is a slight chance of some permission issue

@vertigo220 which are those 1-2 apps? And what apps are getting always auto updated any other info? How am I supposed to try this? I have tried telling you once previously as well in some other issue that I was not able to reproduce this issue and If I have not I am telling you now.

I need more data to find the issue cannot try every app possible out there and every scenario

The issue is related on Android and not us. You might have reinstalled Droid-ify, or installed (or updated) the target app from some other source. In which case we will not be allowed to auto update the app

Also there are new requirements coming from Android each OS update, like requirement for minimum targetSdk and minimum minSdk which are hard to manage since even they do not maintain these requirements in one place they are scattered around the web

There is also a slight chance that permission is not given for installs

Droidify does not see apps that I have installed not from the droidify

Now that you adressed me, I decided to go to droidify and manually check for the updates. None. I haven't been here for few days, and must be app needs a day or two to make this update by itself? They seem to be updated, self 🤔
And until this happens, notifications will keep hanging on. I've switched the notifications off last time visited droidify. Well, let's give few more days and if this confirms, I'll request solved state

It's still not working for me. Not the auto app updates but installation of some apps itself. Like i couldn't updated vlc or aves libre a few days ago only yesterday I was able to do so idk how it got fixed. Now there is this app ironfox which I can't update now. I tried uninstalling and it can't even install it now.
