I haven't noticed the performance decrease. I've actually noticed positive improvements like new features the past year such as sub-tickets and ticket types. But then again, I don't use the platform full-time :-) I'm personally fine with moving. But I would stay away from Sourcehut - it seems... archaic :D And I suppose that GitLab is not an option for you for the same reasons? It has a similar feel, at least is open core, and probably has more (corporate) users present than the other platforms. |

This project was started on GitHub due to the forge's ubiquity. GitHub is fast becoming a hostile environment for open source projects, especially as the site has fallen under the jurisdiction of Microsoft's CoreAI team. The platform is going to continue to enshittify and become more and more infested with slop as the performance gets worse. As anyone who works with the product full-time can attest to, the site is already significantly worse than it was just a few years ago.
In keeping with the spirit of open source, I would recommend that we migrate this project over to one of the following:
Both of these options are open source and have a much lighter interface than GitHub. Codeberg is instantly familiar to anyone who's used GitHub/Gitea/GitLab as its featureset is comparable. Sourcehut has the benefit of an incredibly simple interface, inbuilt hosting for pages, and features such as mailing lists for discussions.
I would still recommend that this repository be kept open as a mirror, as many people still consider GitHub the central hub of open collaboration. This would maintain the project's discoverability, but would enable us to migrate the actual work and discussions to a less hostile platform.
