Crashes on opening

I installed it and i tried to open my hitman but it keeps crashing

Same problem here, I tried the release and 4.0 rc2 but I still get the following error:

you need to uninstall the old versions/files you previously put in the folder of zhmsdk

I've deleted all the old files, but the game still crashes after the 'Hitman is a game made by multicultural...' screen. How can I get logging like that?

I can't even get this far, it opens the launcher and after 2 sec it just closes

I also am getting this issue, it seems it's caused by the fact it's asking Proton for parts of the SteamAPI and receiving invalid responses. It's definitely linked to the DINPUT8.dll, however I believe it's due to it trying to communicate the "ISteamFriends" parts of SteamAPI, and getting invalid responses back from Proton. This could possibly be an issue either with this configuration, or due to Proton itself.

It might be an idea to remove this part if it's not needed which would possibly allow the game to work properly under Linux.

EDIT: Works if you ensure you do the override. I'd forgotten to setup the Proton override initially. 😆 🤦‍♂️

To be clear, you should follow the INSTALL-deck.md of this repo to get everything working on Linux -- people in the thread are referring to it obliquely, but I want to make it explicit. For my setup I needed the WINEDLLOVERRIDES change, given I'm using Proton 9.0-4e. My Launch Options are:

env WINEDLLOVERRIDES='dinput8.dll=n,b;zhmmodsdk.dll=n,b' %command%

The new linux setup tool fixed it for me.
