New deleted posts can trigger the new-activity indicator #1978
Description
We try not to show the silver dot if there's nothing to see -- specifically, if the new activity is a deletion, we don't indicate that. This meta post reports still seeing the indicator (with no visible change) and hypothesizes that this can happen if there is a new post that is then deleted. This is currently infrequent, but could change as spam increases.
We should test the hypothesis before changing any code. I'm recording the issue for future consideration; currently low priority.
