Keyboard Stops responding (most keys) #556

What Happened?

I recently installed Elementry to my wifes old i7 laptop, it has a few hardware issues and I suspect this might be the cause of my problem. It has 3 USB Ports and only 1 works, the built in keyboard more then 1/2 the keys do not work.
I installed the OS using a USB Hub on the only working USB port, there I have USB Keyboard, and USB Dongle with the OS installer. My first issue was it only installed when bios was set to BIOS mode, UEFI does not work, After the install is complete the laptop mouse works, the USB keyboard works. After a few minutes no letters or numbers are accepted anymore from the keyboard, cannot say for sure what the rest of the keyboard is doing, my only fix is a reboot. This happens also if i remove the USB hub and have just the keyboard plugged in. Once it stops responding unplugging and replugging the keyboard does not get it working.
I installed using US keybord layout, though I live in Australia and it has an option for Australian Keyboard (ive never heard of a special AU keyboard, we use US and some use UK).
I do not know how to tell which keyboard it is trying to use, nor how to disable the internal keyboard (apart from unplugging the cable off the Mainboard).
Or did I miss something when it comes to installing the OS with two keyboards ?

Steps to Reproduce

I do not think a step by step guide is useful here how I installed, about the only thing that is common is the keyboard stops responding after a short time.

Expected Behavior

I expected the 2nd keyboard to just work always, even if I unplug and replug.

OS Version

8.x (Circe)

OS Architecture

amd64 (on most hardwares)

Session Type

Classic Session (X11, This is the default)

Software Version

Latest release (I have run all updates)

Log Output

Hardware Info

I am making this report from a proxmox VM since the keyboard issues on the laptop make it difficult to submit a report. Laptop is HP and i7, as for the rest of the specs I might have been able to get them if I left Windows on it. There is no labels or stickers with part numbers or model indentifiers.
