Doesn't handle spaces in filenames

I'm trying to convert MD to HTML:
$markdownProcessor = new Markdown();
$markdownProcessor->setContent($markdown);
$bodyHtml = $markdownProcessor->getHtml();

My markdown contains:

![My Pdf File](<Declarations Page.pdf.png>)

It sends the text through as-is, but it changes < to &lt; and > to &gt;
