My idea is to recast the Cell Counter plugin as a simple shell around ImageJ’s multi-point functionality, which keeps its very light data structures on top. In this way, it would remain convenient for those who like using the Cell Counter dialog interface, while discarding the old and buggy Cell Counter engine in favor of the current built-in multi-point tool.
