chore: how to install native third-party dependencies?

I saw in the description that there are a few requirements:

• Boost
• CMake
• libx11
• xdotool

Should I install and link these libraries manually?

I'll try it manually and see if we could automate this during installation. WDYT?

I tried to install pnpm install xdotool and got this

it seems nan is a devDependency but is needed for building the code which is needed for the postinstall script. by other hand I just installed nan directly in the folder and try the postinstall script but still fails

but even if I switch the CMakeLists.txt to set(CMAKE_CXX_STANDARD 17) fails by other thing more

My Setup

node v20.11.0
Linux 6.7.4-arch1-1
gcc (GCC) 13.2.1 20230801
clang version 16.0.6

all the mentioned dependencies like libx11, boost, cmake and xdotool are installed in my system

Thank you for sharing the information and sorry for being so many years late.

I have released a 2.0 version which supports >=20.x versions of Node.js. It still uses nan, but I will be migrating all these projects to Node-API.

If still relevant, let me know if any other issues arrive.
