(feature: auto upload) Auto-upload stuck on an image #16648

Steps to reproduce
This is a response to #16642 BUT NOT using the debug version, as I wanted to just report the original error first before trying to reproduce it or if it is gone.
I had the issue and came here, because the auto-upload stopped working. At that me:
- did (feature: auto upload) Also had auto-upload being stuck on large video upload #16647 in the past
- it has worked for some while
- …then suddenly it stopped at 90% of an image…
- then I try the pause-unpause trick again and suddenly many images vanished
- Now there are "just" three left but they are really stuck and even pausing/unpausing does not seem to help here
