EDIT: After my latest restart, everything is fine. I had been having a problem for days, I don't know what happened. Please disregard.
I'd like to file an issue, but I don't know where it would make sense to add it. I'm not even sure it's an issue, but I figure if I'm not the only person having the problem it's worth investigation.
My laptop has Elementary OS 8 installed, with disk encryption set up through the installer. It has worked well since 8 came out. But after the 8.1 upgrade, I get random hangs in everything - the desktop, individual applications, terminal inputs, or even in the Ctrl + Alt + F3, Ctrl + Alt + F4, etc... terminals occasionally hang.
I am nowhere near full disk usage, it's 146GB used out of a 400+GB drive. Intel i7-11800H, Nvidia mobile GPU, 32GB of RAM, 4k internal display, no external displays in use.
In journalctl -xe there are occasional systemd-journald core dump errors, but they aren't happening as frequently as the hangs.
All of this could be a fluke, the laptop is five years old and I have a ton of software installed. So I could be running something that's causing issues (I can't even reliably run top!) or the hardware could be failing. But I find the timing of the 8.1 upgrade is suspicious. I might do a fresh install of 8.1 and report back.
