Apache HTTP Components

In the mid-term, this code might transition to the Apache HTTP Components project.

Is this still an ambition, and how realistic is it? What remains to be done to have it included?

Last time I asked they didn't like the style of the API. Maybe time to ask again.

Would be very convenient for the release pain.

It would be great to move this to Apache. There are no good canonical implementations of this RFC in Java, and I'm a bit uneasy to use an experimental library in production.

Would I be able to help you with the API design? Do you still have a link to their review?

1. Yes. Once the open issues are done, I'm ready for a 1.0.0 release though.
2. Help is always good. Please go ahead and open issues.
3. I don't think it was a proper review, just a comment. I can try to dig it out; or maybe I should just ask again.

(I did my best to find it, but couldn't; I'm certain though that I didn't make this up)

Plan: get the open tasks done (in particular API), release 1.0.0, and then ask again.

I would rather not want to pull in the whole apache http components just to get this neat functionality. There are other decent clients out there. Just my 2 cents.
