In practice, this appears to be a distance too great to consider. For example, Burarchaeum would be "too similar" to Halarchaeum, Hadarchaeum, Salarchaeum, and Gugararchaeum. Those are clearly distinguishable names.

Consider Pelagibacter, for which the following names have Levenshtein ≤ 2: Polaribacter, Ellagibacter, and Palauibacter. These are ok to consider, but already borderline "too dissimilar", so it appears to be a good threshold
