for an example "tsconfig.json" if you add "$schema": "https://json.schemastore.org/tsconfig" it will hint editors a code snippet.

Well, I looked around in that json-schema.org site. I get the schema part. I don't quite get the $schema URL part. Like, where should one publish that schema file. Could I just include it to this repository, or does it need to be hosted at json.schemastore.org?

I guess anyone can really create a schema for any format. So if you're familiar with all that, perhaps you'd like to create one.

I don't think hosting is necessary. If we can add a json schema in this repo itself, we can use that in our config files, similar to how oapi-codegen does it: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/oapi-codegen/oapi-codegen/HEAD/configuration-schema.json

EDIT:
The only diff would be if we host it on schemastore, some editors will autodetech the schema for config files, like Zed etc.
