Revise error handling of dialog initialization #1896
Description
There is at least one dialog that doesn’t gracefully deal with certain errors during the dialog initialization phase, see this review thread.
We should revisit our dialogs and ensure that they gracefully display any errors that may occur during dialog initialization. (I.e., network failure, auth failure, etc.)
