Getting Started

Prerequisites

  • Node.js 18+
  • MongoDB database (local or cloud like MongoDB Atlas)
  • ImageKit account (for image storage)
  • OpenAI API key (for AI features)

Installation

  1. Clone the repository git clone https://github.com/bharathkumar39293/ResumeMate.git cd ResumeMate

  2. Install dependencies cd client npm install cd ../server npm install

  3. Environment Setup

Create .env file in the server directory: PORT=5000 MONGO_URI=your_mongodb_connection_string JWT_SECRET=your_jwt_secret_key OPENAI_API_KEY=your_openai_api_key OPENAI_BASE_URL=https://api.openai.com/v1 OPENAI_MODEL=gpt-3.5-turbo IMAGEKIT_PUBLIC_KEY=your_imagekit_public_key IMAGEKIT_PRIVATE_KEY=your_imagekit_private_key IMAGEKIT_URL_ENDPOINT=your_imagekit_url

Create .env file in the client directory: VITE_API_URL=http://localhost:5000/api

  1. Run the application

Terminal 1 - Start backend server: cd server npm start

Terminal 2 - Start frontend dev server: cd client npm run dev

  1. Access the application Open your browser and navigate to http://localhost:5173
