👋 Hi, I'm Stelios Lagaras

Software & DevOps Engineer | Geomatics | Distributed Systems | Open‑Source Contributor

🚀 About Me

I'm a Software/DevOps Engineer in Geomatics at VITO, working across the Copernicus Global Operations ecosystem.
My work focuses on building production‑grade pipelines, optimizing large‑scale geospatial workflows, and contributing to open‑source tooling used in operational earth‑observation processing.

With a background in Electrical & Computer Engineering, I build full‑stack solutions, distributed systems, and high‑performance data pipelines using:

  • Python, FastAPI, GDAL/Rasterio
  • Apache Airflow, Spark, Hadoop
  • Docker, Kubernetes, GitOps, Jenkins
  • AWS S3, EC2
  • GitOps, Github Actions & Workflows
  • Vue.js / Nuxt, Angular
  • RabbitMQ, Redis

I love working at the intersection of research → operations, helping turn algorithms into scalable, reliable production systems.
