Paul Wozniczka — Selected Work

Senior content and developer-experience leader. 20 years building documentation platforms, API references, and AI-assisted authoring systems for engineering organizations — from a Series A AI startup to $1B+ enterprise portfolios.

This repo is a story of my career and a long-form portfolio of work I've shipped.

Currently

  • Designing RLHF evaluation rubrics for technical content
  • Assessing LLM outputs for technical accuracy and reliability
  • Curating high-fidelity documentation datasets for model training and developer-experience improvement
  • Implementing Claude Code and API integrations for systematic LLM output evaluation

Vectara · Head of Documentation

May 2023 – January 2026

Context

Vectara is an enterprise RAG/AI-agent platform. I joined during the seed round as the first and only documentation lead and stayed for almost three years. Before I joined Vectara, I had a brief contract with VSA Partners for a thought leadership project with IBM and SAP.

What I owned

The entire documentation function and platform: strategy, infrastructure, authoring, tooling, governance. I used our amazing product to create some amazing agents and content generation workflows along with guardrails.

What I shipped

  • The docs platform. Docusaurus, Netlify, GitHub-based docs-as-code workflow. Versioned API reference, multi-audience IA, full search. Live at docs.vectara.com.
  • A Diataxis-based IA with progressive disclosure. Visitors land in the "what" and "why" before diving into data ingestion, search and retrieval, agents, and security (AuthN and AuthZ). The flow gets developers to Hello World fast, then deep where it matters.
  • REST API reference organized for rapid integration, generated from OpenAPI. Available at /docs/rest-api.
  • Python SDK guide for modern developer audiences.
  • Custom Docusaurus plugins for displaying code samples and rendering API authentication methods.
  • An automated changelog generator that uses pull request titles and tags to produce a categorized changelog with no manual upkeep.
  • Internal AI agents built on Vectara's own product to improve technical writing workflows (drafting, validation, consistency checking). The functionality has since been rebuilt in other personal projects.
  • Hundreds of contributions to the Vectara documentation repository (repo was made private in May 2026).

Outcome

  • Accelerated documentation update cycles by ~40% via AI-assisted authoring and prompt-driven generation
  • Reduced documentation errors by ~30% via custom Docusaurus plugins and validation components in CI
  • Converted static documentation into an AI-driven self-service portal that reduced support inquiries
  • Established data-informed quality standards via engagement signals, search behavior, and support-deflection metrics

Stack

Docusaurus · OpenAPI · Git/GitHub · Netlify · Diataxis · Markdown/MDX · Claude Code · custom plugin development

Google · Technical Writing Manager

August 2022 – April 2023

Context

Led a team of technical writers and documentation engineers covering 25+ products across Stadia, Immersive Stream, Android, iOS, UX Material Design, and internal security frameworks.

What I shipped

  • Live Stream API documentation — high-concurrency API reference for Stadia's streaming infrastructure.
  • Immersive Stream documentation — cloud streaming technology for developers.
  • New documentation standards, templates, and best practices across multiple product areas, with measurable consistency and quality lift.
  • Data-driven OKRs and KPIs informed by user feedback and stakeholder input.

Note on the work

Stadia was sunset by Google and the developer-facing pages were removed from developers.google.com. The work shipped; the product didn't survive. Official statements remain at stadia.google.com/gg. I had already started leading the Core Experience content consolidation and modernization (~25 projects) with an approved roadmap when I became part of the 12k.

Outcome

  • ~20% increase in consistency and quality across
  • Established structured goal-setting, regular performance check-ins, and career development planning for the team as Google was introducing GRAD performance calibrations.

Stack

Internal Google docs tooling · CI/CD pipelines · Material Design system

Broadcom · Technical Writing Manager

November 2019 – August 2022

Context

Directed content strategy and information architecture for the infrastructure and platform portfolios, which generated over $1.4 billion in annual revenue.

What I owned

  • A team of 14 senior and staff technical writers across automation, databases, DevOps, ML, networking, performance management, security, and storage.
  • The standards, templates, and tooling that 40+ Continuous Delivery streams used to ship documentation.

Cross-functional leadership

  • Formed Content Councils with Product Management, Engineering, UX, Marketing, and Sales to standardize terminology across previously siloed product teams.
  • Created reusable templates and checklists that gave legacy enterprise tools a unified look and feel:
    • "Using the REST API" template
    • Installation Checklist
    • Day 1 Task Checklist

Featured product documentation

I led documentation strategy across 60+ products. Highlights below.

Mainframe Operational Intelligence (MOI) (Rebranded as WatchTower)

  • Getting Started, Preparing for Installation, Installing, and Integrating sections received an STC Award of Excellence.
  • Prerequisite and installation content vetted by customers for smooth multi-product installs.
  • Architectural diagrams to help customers plan deployments.
  • The Installation Checklist became a customer favorite.
  • Troubleshooting section reduced support contact volume. IDMS — one of the highest-revenue products
  • Built the REST API documentation to modernize legacy database interactions for developers. Most IDMS customers were not using REST APIs until ~2019.
  • Documented DCMT Services with direct and Zowe URLs and full request/response examples (e.g., DCMT Statistics).
  • IDMS Performance Metrics reference covering active systems, communication lines, and SQL transactions.
  • IDMS integrates with Zowe (Broadcom + IBM + Rocket collaboration) — added integration documentation. Datacom — another high-revenue database product
  • Created the Systems REST API template (used across multiple APIs).
  • Mentored newer writers on API documentation standards and templates. OPS/MVS Event Management and Automation
  • Detailed parameter and coding examples for developers maintaining event automation.
  • Best Practices section featured prominently per customer request. NetMaster Network Management for TCP/IP
  • Multiple related documentation sets, including Reference content and task-based Administering sections optimized for search.
  • Authored WebSocket API documentation — the product's first WebSocket implementation.
  • Getting Started section addresses the wave of legacy users training replacements (a recurring theme across mainframe products). Mainframe Team Center — Content Viewer
  • API Reference built with Swagger and OpenAPI. Won an STC Award.
  • Created the entire documentation set from scratch for a brand-new product. Output Management Web Viewer
  • Installing section covers every realistic deployment scenario customers might encounter.
  • Architectural diagrams support deployment planning. Mainframe Team Center — Network Management
  • Produced YouTube videos covering functionality.
  • Utilities section includes substantial sample-output coverage.
