Proposed addition to documentation for
Imagethat mentions that you can link to remote images.But contains warnings that you probably should only do that if you have a good reason.

Feel free to modify text. The main point is that the existing ImageSamples suggests that you cannot use remote image URLs. This hasn't been the case for some time, apparently.
