You do not need any programming skills. Just follow the steps below to download and start using the app on your Mac.
To get markdown-manager on your Mac, follow these steps:
- Click the big blue button at the top of this page or visit the official release page.
- On the release page, look for the latest version of markdown-manager. It will usually be at the top.
- Download the file labeled with
.dmgor.zipfor macOS. This is the installer or the app package. - Once downloaded, open the file. If it is a
.dmgfile, a window will appear showing the app icon. - Drag the markdown-manager icon into your Applications folder.
- Open the Applications folder and double-click markdown-manager to start the app.
The app may ask for permission to run since it was downloaded from the internet. Click โOpenโ to continue.
You will need a Mac with these minimum specs for markdown-manager to work smoothly:
- macOS version: 10.14 (Mojave) or later
- Processor: Intel or Apple Silicon chip
- RAM: 4 GB or more
- Disk space: At least 100 MB free for installation
- Internet connection: Optional, but recommended for updates and some features
If your Mac meets these requirements, you should have no trouble running the app.
markdown-manager offers several useful functions for editing and managing Markdown files:

Here is how to get started once the app is running:
- Click File > Open or use the shortcut
Cmd + Oto open existing Markdown files. - Use File > New or
Cmd + Nto start a new document from scratch.
- Type directly into the editor on the left side.
- You will see a live preview of your formatted content on the right.
- Use basic Markdown syntax for headings, lists, links, images, and code blocks.
- Click File > Import and choose a
.docxor.rtffile. - The app will convert that fileโs content into Markdown.
- Review and edit the converted text before saving.
- Click File > Save or
Cmd + Sto save your changes. - You can save as a
.mdfile in any folder on your Mac.
- Access preferences from the markdown-manager > Preferences menu.
- Change themes, toggle live preview, or set default file formats.
If you run into issues using markdown-manager, try the following:
- Make sure your macOS version is supported.
- Check that the downloaded app is the latest version.
- If the app does not open, right-click the app in Applications and select Open.
- Restart your Mac if the app behaves oddly.
- For file conversion problems, check the source file is not corrupted or password protected.
