🟣 Twitch Settings Tab - RICS Mod

How to connect RICS to your Twitch chat (including private whispers!)

TL;DR — 3 clicks and you're live. Uses the same token generator page for both Access Token and Client ID.

🚀 Quick Setup (2 minutes)

  1. Mod Settings → Twitch tab
  2. Enter your Channel Name (e.g. captolamia)
  3. Click the big green Get Twitch Token button
  4. Copy Access Token + Client ID from the generator page
  5. Paste both fields → click Connect to Twitch

✅ You're done! The bot will now read chat and reply privately to whispers.

Step-by-step on the generator page:

  1. Login with your Bot account (recommended) or main streamer account
  2. Click Custom Scope
  3. Check the boxes below
  4. Click Generate Token
  5. Copy the Access Token (top box)
  6. Scroll down → copy the Client ID (green box right below it — exactly like your screenshot)
  7. Paste both back into RICS settings

✅ Required Scopes (MUST check these 4)

These are non-negotiable for RICS to work:

  • chat:read — Read live chat messages
  • chat:edit — Send messages in chat
  • whispers:read — Receive whispers from viewers
  • user:manage:whispers — Send private whisper replies (Helix API — required since 2024)

Without these the mod will show errors or fall back to public chat only.

⚙️ Optional Scopes (recommended for future features)

Check these if you want extra features later:

  • channel:moderate — Basic moderation tools
  • bits:read — Future: Bits → in-game coins
  • channel:read:redemptions — Channel Points rewards (already partially supported)
  • channel:read:polls + channel:manage:polls — Future storyteller voting/polls
  • channel:read:predictions — Secret future feature

Pro tip: You can always regenerate the token later and add more scopes — no need to do everything today.

❓ Common Issues & Fixes

"Whispers not working?"
→ Regenerate token with whispers:read + user:manage:whispers

"Client ID field empty?"
→ Scroll down on the token generator page — it's right there in green!

"Bot not joining?"
→ Double-check channel name spelling (case doesn't matter)

"Token expired?"
→ Just click "Get Twitch Token" again and paste fresh one

🔒 Security Notes

  • Client ID = 100% public (safe to share)
  • Access Token = private (never share)
  • RICS never stores your tokens on any server
  • Token generator page does not save anything
